LV Montaigne series latest wallet
Since Louis Vuitton appointed Nicolas Ghesquière as Creative Director in 2013, we have witnessed a renaissance of the Monogram collection – it’s amazing! So while classic styles such as the LV Speedy, Neverfull and Keepall continue to reign supreme, there is also a huge demand for many less ubiquitous handbags.
The Popincourt, or Artsy, which has Angelina Jolie’s fan base like it, comes to mind, and I seriously love these particular designs that can be juxtaposed with various colorful leather-trimmed logos of the house A bold monogram for an instantly unique look.
One of Ghesquière’s first creations for Louis Vuitton was the LV Montaigne, which is sleek and roomy, yet has its own theme, spanning 7 years! So what makes this bag so under the radar yet so popular?
Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle of Paris, Avenue Montaigne is home to some of the most famous haute couture names and is known as the home of haute couture. In fact, Dior also recently launched the Montaigne 30 bag as a nod to this supremely stylish square, but Louis Vuitton’s homage predates 2014. LV Montaigne Club started around the same time and is still going strong.
Featuring a central zipped compartment with padlock and two large open compartments, the LV Montaigne comes in three different sizes BB, MM and GM to ensure there is something for everyone. You can also carry it in three different ways – as a handle, in the armband or as a shoulder bag. As for the BB, there is also a crossbody option, which ensures maximum versatility thanks to its extra-long detachable strap.
In terms of color and material, the Ghesquière really messes with the Montaigne – you can choose to buy the iconic Monogram or Empreinte leather, which is available in 5 different colours! In fact, Louis Vuitton has also released the Monogram Vernis version, a perfect dress-up day bag that comes in 7 different colors! You can still find them on resale sites.
Currently, the official Louis Vuitton website has a special two-tone Empreinte edition with a giant monogram on it, including MM and BB sizes – buy it now, I think they will sell out fast!
As you can see, the Montaigne comes in many different colors, materials and sizes, so there really is no reason why we shouldn’t get one. But why, still, like Amanda (we miss you!) said, capital F fashion people ignore one of those designs?
Given the bag’s spaciousness, belied by its elegant, structured design, I believe this wallet really deserves more attention. Whether you’re carrying all your bags to work at the GM, or slinging your BB to a girls’ night, there’s a perfect Montaigne for everyone.
In fact, much to the delight of the Montaigne clubbers, we’ve actually seen some famous faces using this bag: author, yoga instructor and wife of Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Baldwin owns Vernis MM, and beauty blogger Alexander ( Alexandrea Garza) and actress Holly Madison share a love for the black Empreinte MM.
Not only that, but I think LV Montaigne is the best way to enter the world of high fashion and it is the best luxury bag for your first purchase. Not only do you see Speedys and Neverfulls all over the place, which makes the Montaigne a great way to stand out, but because it’s a functional, stylish piece that you can wear every day for years to come.
Not to mention, if bags aren’t your thing, you can still get great returns on the resale market (maintaining about 80% of their average resale value!). Who wouldn’t love to enjoy the sweetness of a handbag and plenty of returns, right?
No wonder it’s so popular among everyday purse lovers, even among Hollywood A-listers. When it comes to Louis Vuitton, special editions are always a must! If Vachetta isn’t really your style, LV Montaigne also offers special woven leather handle versions, and you’re sure to find some pieces from the Masters LV x Koons collection (the Mona Lisa version is the quirkiest!). I’m eager to see further collaborations involving Montaigne.
2021 is a promising new year as we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, but is that end near? It’s hard to say, and as cases continue to mount, visiting the Avenue Montaigne in Paris may be a distant dream for many of us. But that shouldn’t stop us from taking ourselves first, second, and third from the holy grail of handbag brands.
For many of us, buying a Louis Vuitton wallet is a milestone moment, marking “I made it!” The Montaigne embodies just that with its strength, functionality, and sophistication.
